Trump urges resignation of New York AG amid scrutiny

A new controversy emerges as President Donald Trump and New York Attorney General Letitia James engage in another heated exchange over a questionable real estate document.

According to Newsmax, Trump has demanded James' immediate resignation following media reports questioning her involvement in a real estate transaction where she allegedly claimed a property as her primary residence while pursuing legal action against him.

The dispute centers around a document James signed in August 2023, designating her relative Shamice Thompson-Hairston as power of attorney. The document stated her intention to occupy the property as her primary residence, yet two months later, she proceeded with her fraud suit against Trump, raising questions about her residential status.

Trump's strong stance against James intensifies

Trump took to Truth Social late Sunday night to express his frustration with the situation. In his characteristic style, the President emphasized the impossibility of improving New York with James in office.

The ongoing conflict between Trump and James has been marked by significant legal battles, including a $454 million judgment against Trump in a civil fraud trial last March.

Legal developments and bond payment

Trump successfully posted a $175 million bond on April 1, 2024, preventing state authorities from seizing his assets. The case saw further development with an appeal hearing on September 26, 2024, though a decision remains pending.

Following Trump's victory in the November election, his legal team attempted to resolve the matter by requesting James' office to dismiss the $486 million civil fraud judgment.

Multiple ongoing legal challenges

James has maintained an active role in various legal actions against the Trump administration. Her office firmly rejected the request to dismiss the fraud case, with her lawyer stating they would not stipulate to vacate the final judgment.

James continues to pursue several other cases against the Trump administration, including disputes over COVID-related education funding and election integrity measures.

Trump posted on Truth Social:

Letitia James, a totally corrupt politician, should resign from her position as New York State Attorney General, IMMEDIATELY. Everyone is trying to MAKE NEW YORK GREAT AGAIN, and it can never be done with this wacky crook in office

James' office responded through their lawyer:

This Office will not stipulate to vacate the final judgment against Trump and his company or otherwise seek to dismiss the action

Current state of affairs leads to uncertainty

The confrontation between President Trump and Attorney General James has escalated following revelations about her real estate documentation. The dispute centers on James' August 2023 signing of a document claiming a property as her primary residence while actively pursuing legal action against Trump.

As the appeal decision remains pending and James maintains her position on the $486 million civil fraud judgment, the relationship between the two officials continues to deteriorate, with Trump calling for her immediate resignation and James showing no signs of backing down from her legal pursuits against the administration.
