Trump mistakenly posts private message to Bondi on prosecutorial delays

Reading Time: 2 minutes

President Donald Trump just dropped a bombshell on Truth Social that has had everyone talking.

On Sept. 20, Trump accidentally posted a public message meant as a private note to Attorney General Pam Bondi, urging her to go after several high-profile political adversaries, sparking a firestorm of concern over the potential misuse of the Justice Department, as The Hill reports.

This wasn’t just a slip of the finger; it was a full-on public reveal of what Trump thought was a discreet chat, as confirmed by sources like the Wall Street Journal and a former administration official speaking to NBC.

Accidental post sparks controversy

Trump, apparently caught off guard by his own tech mishap, found the message plastered across his Truth Social account for all to see, much to his surprise.

He tried to brush off the blunder with a casual air, but the damage was already done, and the internet doesn’t forget.

Addressed directly to “Pam,” the post took aim at figures like former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Sen. Adam Schiff, criticizing what Trump saw as a lack of action against them.

Trump's words ignite DOJ debate

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” Trump wrote, clearly frustrated in the now-public message. (President Trump, Truth Social)

Well, that’s one way to rally the base, but it also raises eyebrows about whether the Justice Department is being nudged into a political weapon -- a concern many conservatives share when it comes to maintaining institutional integrity.

Attorney General Bondi, understandably rattled by the public exposure, reached out to Trump and White House aides to address the fallout from this unintended broadcast.

Bondi reacts, Trump doubles down

Following Bondi’s reaction, Trump didn’t back down but instead posted a follow-up message on Truth Social, heaping praise on her as if to smooth over the rough edges of the initial post.

Meanwhile, the original message’s implications couldn’t be ignored, as it fueled worries among critics and even some supporters about the line between justice and political retribution.

Fast forward to the aftermath, and the Justice Department has since acted, bringing charges against both Comey and Letitia James, seemingly aligning with the targets named in Trump’s post.

Charges filed amid continued debate

Comey faces allegations of making false statements to Congress and obstructing a hearing tied to 2020 testimony, to which he pleaded not guilty just days ago on October 8, 2025.

As for Letitia James, she was indicted this past week in a Virginia federal court on charges of bank fraud and false statements related to mortgage fraud accusations, and she’s pushing back hard. “These charges are baseless, and the president’s own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost,” she declared.

Baseless or not, James’s retort misses the mark for many who see the left’s legal crusades against Trump as the real retribution -- five indictments and two impeachments over what many conservatives call flimsy grounds. Still, the timing of these charges, right after Trump’s public prodding, doesn’t exactly scream impartiality, and it’s a fair point to question if justice is being served or merely directed. Let’s hope the courts sort this out with facts, not agendas.
