The Democratic Party posted an Easter-themed message on its official X account Saturday featuring former President Barack Obama and a person in an Easter Bunny costume, captioned simply: "Better times at the White House." Former President Joe Biden, the party's most recent president, was not pictured or mentioned.
The omission did not go unnoticed. Christian influencer Renatta Oxendine replied with a question the party apparently hoped nobody would ask: "Why are y'all skipping over Biden?"
Fox News Digital columnist David Marcus called it a "brutal smack down of Joe Biden." Conservative podcaster Stephen L. Miller kept it simpler: "They skipped someone."
This is the same Democratic Party that spent the better part of four years insisting Joe Biden was sharp, energetic, and fully capable of leading the free world. Reporters who questioned his cognitive fitness were accused of trafficking in right-wing conspiracy theories. Voters who noticed what their own eyes told them were dismissed as partisan bad actors.
Now Democrats can't even include Biden in a nostalgia post. Not a tribute. Not a policy highlight. A simple Easter throwback, and they reached past the man they nominated, elected, defended, and then quietly shuffled offstage when he became inconvenient.
The image featured Obama with the Washington Monument in the background. It was a deliberate editorial choice. Nobody accidentally crops out a president. You either include the man who carried your banner through 2024 or you don't. They didn't.
The reaction followed a similar controversy involving Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom's press office, which posted a message stating "if you miss having a President with a functioning brain," alongside an image of Obama. Biden was, once again, nowhere to be found.
The irony is breathtaking. The GOP's official account resurfaced a prior post from Newsom's press office that read:
"Happy birthday, President @JoeBiden! We miss having a president who has physical stamina — and a functioning brain."
The Republican account added: "We know you 'can't read' but remember posting this?"
That birthday post praised Biden's "physical stamina" and "functioning brain," the exact qualities Newsom's office later implicitly reserved for Obama alone. After facing backlash, the Newsom press office posted a separate message praising Biden's "empathy," which tells you everything about where they rank him. Obama gets the brain. Biden gets a participation trophy about feelings.
What's happening here is not subtle, and it's not accidental. The Democratic Party is engaged in a slow, public erasure of the Biden presidency. Consider the sequence:
This isn't a party grappling honestly with a difficult chapter. It's a party that lied to its own voters about the health of its sitting president, then discarded him the moment the lie became unsustainable, and is now pretending the whole thing never happened.
The phrase "Better times at the White House" does a lot of work. It frames the current administration as the problem while conveniently skipping the question of what, exactly, Democrats did with the four years they most recently held the building. If Obama represents "better times" and the current White House is the implied villain, where does Biden fit? He doesn't. That's the answer the party is giving whether it admits it or not.
Democrats don't miss Biden. They miss the version of their party that could win without having to explain why its standard-bearer couldn't finish a sentence at a debate podium. Obama is the brand. Biden was the placeholder. And now they're not even bothering to pretend otherwise.
There's a practical cost to this kind of public disloyalty. Voters notice when a party treats its own leaders as disposable the moment they stop being useful. Democratic officials spent an entire term demanding that the country respect Joe Biden's presidency. They questioned the patriotism of anyone who didn't. Now those same officials can't bring themselves to put his picture in an Easter post.
If that's how Democrats treat a man who gave them half a century of service, rank-and-file members should pay attention. The party's affection has an expiration date, and it arrives the instant you become inconvenient.
