Carl Bernstein Alleges Biden's Staffers Report Cognitive Decline in President

Veteran journalist Carl Bernstein has voiced significant concerns about President Joe Biden's health, citing reports from within the administration.

According to Daily Mail, Bernstein says Biden White House insiders have informed him the president's poor health has been evident on many occasions in the last year and a half.

Bernstein claims that advisors and staffers have noted Biden’s declining health multiple times over the last 18 months, with particular concern following the recent debate. The 81-year-old president frequently lost his train of thought, trailed off mid-sentence, and mixed up topics during the event.

Concerns from Within Biden's Circle

The debate has intensified discussions about Biden's ability to lead, prompting calls from politicians and pundits for him to consider stepping down. Carl Bernstein, renowned for his investigative journalism, discussed these issues in a recent segment with Anderson Cooper.

Bernstein stated, “In the last six months, particularly, there has been a marked incidence of cognitive decline and physical infirmity.” He emphasized that his sources have witnessed Biden in a similar state to his debate performance at least 15-20 times over the past year and a half.

Advisors Raise Alarms

Staffers have expressed their concerns to former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain. Despite this, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has dismissed public incidents where Biden appeared to 'freeze' as fabricated videos.

Bernstein recounted an incident at a June 2023 fundraiser where Biden appeared stiff and required a chair to continue the event. This episode added to the growing list of concerns about his health.

Jean-Pierre responded to these claims by stating, "That was definitely a cheap fake." She also downplayed videos showing Biden being guided by President Obama and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Mixed Reactions and Ongoing Campaign

Despite these concerns, Biden is reported to remain sharp in national security meetings, particularly on topics like Ukraine and Gaza. Bernstein noted, “I have heard for two years how sharp Joe Biden is in his national security meetings.”

There is an acknowledgment, however, that Biden has 'good days and bad days,' leading to unease about his consistency in performing presidential duties. Some high-level Democrats share Bernstein’s concerns, although public support for Biden remains steadfast among others.

Future Political Prospects

Despite these controversies, Biden continues to campaign and has no public plans to resign. His family reportedly discussed his political future at Camp David, with his son, Hunter Biden, encouraging him to stay in the race.

The next debate, hosted by ABC News, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10. Observers are keen to see how Biden performs in this upcoming event. Biden’s advisors have faced criticism for inadequate preparation for the first debate, and there is concern about the president's dip in the polls post-debate.

Carl Bernstein's revelations have sparked a heated debate within the Democratic Party about President Biden's capacity to lead the nation. As the campaign continues, the president's health remains a focal point of discussion, with both supporters and critics closely monitoring his public appearances and performances.
