Jillian Michaels abandons podcast in heated Israel debate

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Jillian Michaels abruptly quit her political talk show, Her Take, live on-air after clashing with her co-hosts during a contentious argument about Israel and conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

According to the Daily Mail, the fitness trainer and television personality left the set mid-episode following a debate over unverified claims involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turning Point USA. Michaels said she was blindsided by the segment and refused to continue.

The 51-year-old was joined by progressive commentator Ana Kasparian, right-wing YouTuber Amy Dangerfield, and former Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li. The conversation was prompted by attention surrounding Kirk’s memorial service, but quickly turned sour after accusations of financial ties to Israel were raised.

Tense exchanges erupt on live show

The podcast discussion escalated when Li claimed Netanyahu funneled $150 million to Kirk’s organization to ensure pro-Israel advocacy. Michaels immediately pushed back, calling the assertion baseless and demanding evidence.

“There’s no proof of that, in fact the opposite is true,” she said, growing increasingly frustrated as her co-hosts pressed the point. She insisted she had warned against raising the allegations, particularly so close to Kirk’s funeral.

Kasparian then interjected forcefully, prompting both women to shout over each other during the live broadcast. At one point, Kasparian could be heard yelling, “Hold on! Let me finish my f***ing thought!” before tensions completely boiled over.

Michaels storms off mid-episode

Exasperated, Michaels declared she had no interest in continuing discussions that focused primarily on criticizing Israel. She accused the panel of repeatedly steering the show toward anti-Israel narratives regardless of the main topic.

“This is not for me. I’m not interested in this,” Michaels said while removing her microphone and grabbing her laptop.

At that moment, Kasparian fired back with a sarcastic remark about “precious Israel,” accusing the country of committing atrocities. Michaels then walked out, leaving her co-hosts to carry on with the segment.

Defending her decision afterward

In an interview on James Li’s Today-ish podcast, Michaels said she was “misled” about what the episode would cover. She explained she had warned producers it was inappropriate to tie Israel into the discussion, given the recent burial of Kirk.

“I said, ‘This has been covered already. We’re going to look like a**holes doing this literally the day after they buried him,’” Michaels recalled. She suggested instead focusing on other aspects of Kirk’s killing.

The trainer, who has publicly aligned herself with Donald Trump’s political movement, maintained she supports a healthy debate about Israel but opposed what she saw as lopsided attacks. She accused Kasparian of going “down the rabbit hole” when it came to the issue.

Show’s future now in question

Michaels confirmed she will not return to Her Take, despite having served as its lead host since the program’s launch in May under conservative media outlet Valuetainment Studios. She made clear there was no possibility of reconciling with Kasparian and the rest of the panel.

The series was originally pitched as an unfiltered forum for diverse viewpoints from women across the political spectrum. Its creators described it as an alternative to mainstream panel shows.

When joining earlier this year, Michaels had called it her “dream project” and promised audiences a bold exchange of ideas without groupthink. With her departure, that mission could now be in jeopardy.
