A new House task force could potentially declassify Jeffrey Epstein's closely guarded client list alongside other significant government secrets.
As reported by The Independent, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer announced Tuesday the formation of a special investigative unit led by Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna aimed at examining and potentially releasing sensitive federal documents.
The task force's scope extends beyond the Epstein files to include investigations into the September 11 terrorist attacks, COVID-19 origins, the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and UFO phenomena.
Luna, a strong Trump supporter, emphasized her commitment to transparency and providing Americans with long-withheld information.
The initiative follows President Trump's recent executive order to declassify records related to several high-profile assassinations, prompting increased pressure to release Epstein's list. Attorney General Pam Bondi received a formal request for a briefing about Epstein-related documents, with a response expected by next Tuesday.
Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett expressed doubts about the likelihood of the client list's release, citing distrust in federal agencies. The Republican congressman, who serves on the committee, promised to maintain an open mind while remaining skeptical about agencies' willingness to cooperate.
Luna announced the task force would welcome Republican and Democratic participation, with the first hearing scheduled for March. The congresswoman, known for advocating Trump's addition to Mount Rushmore, promised a thorough investigation into multiple controversial topics.
President Trump's past relationship with Epstein has drawn renewed attention following the task force announcement. Flight logs revealed Trump traveled on Epstein's private Boeing 727, nicknamed "Lolita Express," accompanied by family members and others.
The two men maintained a friendship from the late 1980s until a real estate dispute in the 1990s led to their falling out. This occurred before Epstein's first arrest in 2006 for soliciting prostitution. Trump has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein's illegal activities.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated:
We know he [Clinton] was on the plane, called the Lolita Express, multiple times. He has been a continued friend of his for many years. Contrast that with Donald Trump, who had not spoken to him for over a decade after he kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago for bad behavior.
The newly established congressional task force aims to declassify multiple sensitive government documents, including Jeffrey Epstein's alleged client list.
Under Representative Anna Paulina Luna's leadership, the investigation will examine various historical events and controversies, with initial hearings beginning in March.
The task force's success depends on cooperation from federal agencies and bipartisan support, though some committee members remain skeptical about achieving full transparency. The investigation's outcome could potentially reveal new information about Epstein's connections while addressing other significant historical questions.
