Report claims Soros donated $80 million to groups linked to violence and terrorism

A new investigation alleges billionaire George Soros has provided substantial funding to organizations with ties to extremist activities.

According to The Daily Caller, the Capital Research Center (CRC) released a report claiming Soros has channeled more than $80 million through his Open Society Foundation to groups that have allegedly praised terrorists or encouraged violent protests. The report suggests these organizations engage in or endorse actions that meet the FBI's definition of domestic terrorism.

The timing of these allegations coincides with ongoing investigations into potential connections between left-wing organizations and the September 10 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. This revelation has intensified scrutiny of funding sources behind activist groups across the political spectrum.

Specific Organizations And Funding Allegations

The CRC report details numerous organizations allegedly receiving Soros funding while promoting controversial activities. Since 2020, the Open Society Foundation has reportedly provided $400,000 to the Center for Third World Organizing (CTWO), which, according to the report, boasted about its involvement in the George Floyd riots.

The CTWO allegedly serves as a hub for radical groups, including the Ruckus Society, whose training materials reportedly endorse tactics that "may be outside of the law." The report claims the network includes the BlackOUT Collective, which co-authored what CRC describes as a pro-Hamas guide glorifying the October 7 attacks.

This guide allegedly references a Ruckus Society manual promoting tactics like property destruction and blockades. The allegations suggest a network of interconnected organizations receiving funding while promoting controversial tactics.

Additional Funding Recipients And Alleged Activities

The CRC investigation identifies several other organizations allegedly receiving substantial Soros funding while engaging in controversial advocacy. According to the report, Soros' foundations provided $1,850,000 to Dream Defenders and $18 million to Movement for Black Lives, both of which allegedly collaborated with the BlackOUT Collective on the controversial guide.

Additionally, the Open Society Foundations reportedly gave $200,000 to Dissenters, another alleged co-author of the guide. The report claims Dissenters is listed as an endorser of the Shut It Down for Palestine coalition, which allegedly praises actions like shutting down highways and bridges.

The coalition reportedly partners with the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee, which a spokesperson confirmed "generally agrees" with the characterization that they advise activists on "how to illegally avoid paying some of their taxes to the IRS so as not to fund U.S. national security activities." This admission provides some verification of at least one aspect of the report's claims.

Sunrise Movement And Atlanta Forest Defenders

The report links Soros funding to groups allegedly involved in destructive protest activities in Atlanta. The Sunrise Movement, which reportedly received at least $2 million from Open Society, allegedly promoted the Stop Cop City/Defend the Atlanta Forest coalition.

According to CRC, this coalition has been linked to "Antifa-associated anarchist terrorism," with dozens of members facing domestic terrorism and racketeering charges for actions including arson, property destruction and assaults on law enforcement. The report alleges Sunrise encouraged donations to the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, which prosecutors claim provided bail, legal defense, and materials like ammunition, drones and surveillance equipment to activists.

When contacted by the Daily Caller News Foundation, multiple organizations named in the report did not respond to requests for comment. The lack of response from these groups leaves the allegations largely unchallenged in the reporting.

Response From Open Society And Political Reactions

The Open Society Foundations firmly denied funding terrorism or violent activities in response to the allegations. A spokesperson for the Open Society Foundations told the Daily Caller News Foundation: "The Open Society Foundations does not fund terrorism. Our activities are peaceful and lawful, and our grantees are expected to abide by human rights principles and be in compliance with the law."

The statement emphasized that their work is "solely dedicated to strengthening American democracy and upholding the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the US Constitution." This categorical denial directly contradicts the central claims of the CRC report.

President Donald Trump has previously called for legal action against Soros and his son, Alex. "George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America," Trump wrote on Truth Social in August, adding that "Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country!"
