Trump nullifies Biden's autopen-signed orders, spares Hunter's pardon

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Brace yourselves, folks -- Donald Trump just ignited a political earthquake by voiding every executive order signed with an autopen during Joe Biden’s presidency, as the Daily Mail reports.

In a bold statement shared last Friday on Truth Social, Trump condemned the use of a mechanical signature for critical decisions, asserting that such a process lacks the personal accountability required of a president.

While the autopen -- a tool that replicates handwriting -- has been quietly employed by leaders across party lines for minor paperwork, Trump argues it has no place in matters as serious as executive orders or pardons.

Trump Challenges Legitimacy of Mechanical Signatures

“I am hereby canceling all executive orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden, because the people who operated the autopen did so illegally,” Trump proclaimed on Truth Social.

Let’s cut through the noise -- that’s not just a policy rollback; it’s a full-on assault on a practice that’s dodged scrutiny for too long, even if Trump himself used it for less consequential documents during his term.

Out of the 162 executive orders Biden issued over his presidency, a significant chunk bore the impersonal mark of an autopen, casting doubt on the authenticity of the president’s direct involvement.

Contentious Pardons Stir Conservative Outrage

Among the orders signed by machine were pardons for divisive names like Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, and members of the Jan. 6 committee, moves that have fueled intense backlash from the right.

Adding fuel to the fire, on his very last full day in office, Biden relied on the autopen to grant clemency to several family members, including James B. Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T. Owens, and Francis W. Biden.

Interestingly, the sole pardon Biden chose to sign by hand in his final months was for his son Hunter, who has been working through recovery from cocaine addiction -- a striking outlier amid a flurry of mechanical signatures.

Biden’s Claims Meet Republican Doubts

At 83 years old, Biden firmly states he personally authorized every pardon and commutation, even those processed with an autopen, but conservatives aren’t buying it so easily.

Trump, alongside fellow Republicans, has raised pointed concerns about Biden’s mental capacity, suggesting that overreliance on aides and devices like the autopen signals a troubling delegation of presidential power.

Last month, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee called for a thorough Justice Department examination of every executive order from Biden’s administration, determined to expose any lapses in protocol.

GOP Report Exposes White House Disarray

The committee’s findings were scathing, depicting Biden’s decision-making as a disorganized relay of information, with critical actions based on second- or even third-hand communications rather than direct oversight.

A particularly alarming detail involved former Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, who reportedly greenlit autopen use remotely via an aide’s email, without confirming Biden’s explicit consent -- a glaring gap in the chain of command.

“The Committee has found that President Biden's aides coordinated a cover-up of the president's diminishing faculties,” the GOP report asserted, intensifying questions about whether Biden’s final acts truly reflected his will.
