Violent threats targeting several of President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet nominees and appointees have led to a heightened law enforcement response in recent days.

From Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, a significant number of Trump's cabinet selections were subjected to a wave of threats. According to reports, the incidents involved bomb threats and "swatting," a dangerous prank wherein false reports are made to initiate an armed police response.
Fox News reported these threats, highlighting the potential risks facing Trump's nominees and appointees during the transitional period. Among the targeted individuals was Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), nominated as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, who experienced a bomb threat directed at her family while they traveled to Saratoga County, New York, for Thanksgiving.
Law enforcement, including New York State, county-level officials, and U.S. Capitol Police, responded promptly to assess and manage the threat. Stefanik's office issued a statement emphasizing their gratitude for the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved.
In another incident, former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), nominated to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was threatened with a pipe bomb alongside a pro-Palestinian message. Zeldin and his family were away from home during the incident, which allowed for local officers to secure the area without harm to his family.
Incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt strongly condemned the targeting of Trump's appointees, labeling the acts as "un-American." She stressed the importance of law enforcement's quick response to ensure the safety of the individuals involved.

Reports from Punchbowl News indicated that a bomb-sniffing dog initially checked the mailbox. When results were inconclusive, a bomb squad was called to ensure the safety and security of the area, highlighting the severity of the threat. These threats followed two recent attempts on Trump’s life, including an incident in Butler, Pennsylvania that left one rally attendee dead.
